I am not a good writer ... yet!

I am not a good writer. I am not a natural writer. Sounds like clickbait? Maybe a little, yet it is all too true.

I will go into this subject in detail later on my blog; this is a heads-up of what’s coming. A heads up on why EXTINCTION SPECIES has stalled. I received my developmental edit in the summer of 2025. The depth and extent of the work I had to do shocked me.

Except for the first four months after I started writing, when everything I wrote was GOLD, I am a realistic and harsh critic of whatever I am doing. It encourages self-improvement, raising the bar of whatever task (creative tasks in particular) you are working on.

Don’t get me wrong. I have potential; I have grand stories, and the occasional good line, paragraph, or even chapter gets produced. But …

After five years of writing and editing a 100K novel, I thought it was ready for a professional edit. Yet, twelve full self-edits left it in rougher shape than I had thought.

I have started the edits, and as I continue, I will post on my blog details about where I went wrong, etc.

This will help others and help me. If only by illustrating frustration(s) (and wins) as my manuscript creeps towards query-level status.
