The End. ... or the Beginning
Both, actually. I retired from computer drafting, and started writing July 6, 2019. I began by writing a magazine article (still in progress) mainly to learn
Scrivener
, the software I am using to write with.
It was not until August 14, 2019, that I started writing my first short story. This is when I started writing, seriously, obsessively, constantly, and without over-using words ending in 'ly'.

- Monthly Newb Moment: Yes, you too can write, I am
- Opinion Pieces relating to the craft and art of writing
... or anything else I want.
Read Something
Below are links to a few short stories I wrote. The first three are the results from an exercise in 'voice' for the diyMFA 101 writing course I took in the spring of 2020. The fourth is the second short story I ever wrote, which I wrote as an entry for the 2020 CBC Short Story Prize.

Monthly Newb Moment
I started writing my first short story mid-August 2019. Having started, I just typed, head down, as fast as my index fingers could go.
When I stopped and looked at the monitor to read what I had just written, it looked. ... odd. I picked up a book and scanned for dialogue. Yep, I had no double-quotation marks in the dialogue I had just written. OK. Good to know.
Will I ever be able to change the name of this Newsletter?
Stay tuned, it could take a while.
F.A.Q.
Future newsletters may have Frequently Asked Questions. Send your question(s) to: Eric.
That's all for this month!
Thanks,
