I am polishing the first short story I wrote called Scream and Leapt a Man-Kzin Wars story. When I am done, it will be off to the beta readers and critique partners. ... after I find some beta and critique readers.

Anyone familiar with Larry Niven and the Man-Kzin Wars series will understand how difficult it will be to get even an exceptional story published. As far as I know they only accept work from invited authors. Yes, my story is that good, and no, I am not interested in fan-fiction. ...

If you are interested in reading my short story, please contact me along with a note regarding your preference of being a beta reader, or something more involved. I will be happy to return the favor.

It is approximately 8500 words long.

I present these writing terms, abbreviations etc. as a short-cut to any wanna-be authors. I learned by watching videos and researching on-line.

• Query Letter: A letter to an agent, editor or publisher to sell your project (book), in other words, a cover letter.
• Beta Reader: Someone, usually not a writing professional, that gives a general impression/review of your project.
• Critique Partner: Someone often writing in your same genre that gives a detailed review of your project. Someone you share stories and feedback with regularly.
• Crit: To give or receive a critique, see above. ...

There are many more, but that's a good start.

Will I ever be able to change the name of this Newsletter?

Stay tuned, it could take a while.

Q: You joke, but will you ever change the name of your newsletter?

A: No. I have nerve even mentioning Jim Butcher in a sentence with myself, but, just as he kept the nickname Longshot on author forums even after his success, it will forever be The Newb Files. ...
