Welcome to The Newb Files, Issue VII.

One of the most common pieces of advice for new writers is to spew your first draft; don't worry about it. Get it out. Edit your story, article, or novel content later.

I do not do this. From the first, I would type in a sentence or, more often, a paragraph. Stopping and reading it to check for typos and content before proceeding.

I am not sure why. But, doing otherwise smacks of working in an engineering firm and the impatient make-work that started most projects.

But whatever works. ...

As promised, an update on how my Christmas dinner went. Bleeping amazing is how. Thanks to Glen and Friends for the recipe(s). A link to the Roulade recipe is at the bottom of the newsletter.

The Turkey Demi-glace was even more work to make, but amazing. Final steps: add two tablespoons of white wine and flour (beurre manié) to thicken slightly. Taste and adjust seasonings. ...

The finished meal. ... so good!

And, even better, leftovers with homemade fries.

And, yes, this is how I celebrate the silly season. By cooking for three days straight. ...

That moment when you realize the authors on YouTube you have based your learning curve on, can't follow their own rules on writing.

Even to save their own book(s).
